The leading global provider of information and communications technology (ICT) infrastructure and smart devices, Huawei is thrilled to invite students from France, Portugal, and Spain to take part in this year’s European University Challenge 2020!
The goal of the challenge is to build an AI simulator for optical networks that can be used to optimize network configurations in silico, before deployment. The project is a collaboration between the Paris Noah’s Ark Team (AI of Huawei) and the Optical Network Team. The data is taken on an experimental prototype network in the laboratory of the Optical Team. The quality of the solutions will be determined by a score measuring the discrepancy between the predicted network output and the ground truth. The data challenge aims to answer the scientific question: How well can we model a cascade of several optical components by using input-output training data from individual components?
Invited to participate are undergraduate, Master's, and PhD students currently registered with an institution in France, Spain or Portugal and studying engineering, mathematics, computing science or related field.
